Primary objective To provide specialist Sexual Health / Blood Borne Viruses (BBV) clinical services to Central Australia, provide clinical leadership and support to the broader public health functions of the Sexual Health BBV unit. Key duties and responsibilities 1. Provide specialist sexual health/BBV clinical services in Alice Springs and Tennant Creek. 2. Provide clinical leadership, clinical governance, professional development, and support to the SHBBVU to ensure a high standard of patient care is maintained. 3. Provide clinical consultancy and support regarding sexual health/BBV care to other health services including hospital clinicians, rural medical officers, and general practitioners. 5. Contribute to development and ongoing maintenance of sexual health/BBV related policies, clinical guidelines, research, and primary care support programs. 6. Provide clinical and public health support and education to the Public Health Unit and other health services in relation to sexual health and BBVs, including non-governmental services. 7. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services, and workplaces. 8. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour. Selection criteria Essential 1. Fellow of the Australian Chapter for Sexual Health Medicine, Royal College of Physicians or undergoing speciality training. 2. Experience working in sexual health/BBV clinical and public health environment including managing complex STI/HIV/AIDS and viral Hepatitis cases. 3. Completed not less than the equivalent of six years of full-time service in medical practice as a Staff Specialist. 4. Proven ability to provide clinical leadership including contribution to professional development, clinical learning, and orientation programs for a range of health professionals. 5. Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team. 6. High level communication skills including written, oral, and interpersonal skills with demonstrated sensitivity to issues which may have greater impact on marginalised groups and communities. 7. High level of computer literacy including the internet, email, word processing and databases. 8. An ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures.
