Advisor, Budget Analyst - Analytics & Reporting Budget Management & Control Employment Type: Ongoing Classification / Grade / Band:Clerk Grade 5/6 Remuneration: $99,938.00, $110,271.00; plus, Superannuation and Leave Loading Location: Sydney CBD, Flexible working options available Applications Close: Monday 30 March 2026 at 10:00am Your day as a Budget Analyst Your typical day-to-day work includes working with diverse stakeholders to improve how budget and financial management processes operate in practice, using data, systems and automation to deliver better insights and advice. You will help design and improve how budget and reporting data flows through analytics platforms and reporting products. You will work alongside senior analysts to identify manual, repetitive processes and help automate or simplify them. NSW Treasury is modernising how the State plans, manages and reports on its finances. As part of this transformation, the Budget Management and Control team is leading the upgrade of the States budget system, Prime, alongside a broader uplift in analytics, insights and financial processes. This role sits at the intersection of budgeting, data and systems, supporting the development of Prime Analytics and improved wholeofgovernment insights. You will work with large financial datasets to support core budget processes while also contributing to the automation of manual workflows, the development of modern dashboards, and the delivery of clearer, more timely insights to decisionmakers. This is an opportunity for an analyst who enjoys working with data and complexity, and who is interested in how emerging tools, can be applied safely and effectively in a publicsector financial management context. As the capability matures, this role offers scope to grow alongside Treasurys evolving analytics and digital agenda. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys working across budget processes, financial management and data, and who is motivated by improving how systems, processes and insights support decisionmaking across government. You will be successful in this role if you have a good combination of: Experience or interest in using data, systems and technology to improve processes, automate manual activities and generate better insights for decisionmakers. Experience solving problems using large financial datasets and applying modelling to provide insights and recommendations to decision makers. An interest in understanding endtoend budget and financial management processes and contributing to their redesign, automation and continuous improvement. Experience working collaboratively within teams and with stakeholders to devise and deliver solutions. Qualifications in, finance, economics, accounting or a related discipline.
