The role is highly selfdirected, demanding confidence in navigating ambiguity, horizon scanning for emerging issues, and identifying and responding to forthcoming risks or pressures impacting Budget outcomes. The Advisor must demonstrate strong stakeholder management and autonomous working capability, particularly in engaging with senior executives. This includes understanding senior stakeholder expectations and tailoring advice, communication and work strategies accordingly. Success in the role relies on sound judgement, proactive issue management, and the ability to deliver highquality outcomes while coordinating across teams and maintaining momentum under tight timeframes. The Budget Strategy and Coordination team leads the coordination and delivery of the NSW Budget and HalfYearly Review, providing clear, strategic and highquality advice on budget strategy, policy and implementation. The team works across Treasury and closely with the Treasurers Office to manage wholeofgovernment budget processes, develop guidance and data inputs, improve budget production processes, and support senior decisionmaking through strong coordination, analysis and secretariat support. The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria: Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated professional experience in accounting, finance, law, economics, data science, public policy, or a related field, with postgraduate or professional policy or analytical experience desirable. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present policy analysis, advice and briefing materials for senior executives and Ministerial offices (under supervision). Proven ability to manage sensitive stakeholder relationships, work collaboratively in a team, and consider diverse perspectives when contributing to policy advice.
