Opportunity tosupport theNSW Small BusinessCommissions advocacyforsmall businessesas part of theStrategy andRepresentation teamwithin the CommissionsAdvocacydirectorate.This positionmanages and coordinates the development and implementation of a range of policy and strategic initiatives.About the TeamThe Strategy & Representation Teamis responsible forprovidingsupport and advice to the Small Business Commissioner on matters affecting small businesses, as well asrepresentingtheir interests to other government agenciesand external parties.In this role, you will lead a teamanddriveengagement activities tosupportsmall businesses.About UsTheNSW Small Business Commissioneris an independent statutory officerThe NSW Small Business Commissionprovidesstrategic advice,advocacyand affordable dispute resolution services to small businesses across NSW.Our role includes:encouraging government agencies and larger businesses to enter productive working relationships with small businessesfacilitating and encouraging the fair treatment of small businessespromoting a fair operating environment in which small businesses can flourish.As a key advocate for small businesses across in NSW the Commission aims to ensure small business needs are front-of-mind for NSW Government decisions,supportand assistance.The Commission also playsan important rolein connecting small businesses, councils and industry groups to vital information and support services.The Commission sits within the Department of Customer Service as an independent agency.Information about the structure and functions of the NSW Small Business Commission and Department of Customer Service can be viewed at:www.smallbusiness.nsw.gov.auandwww.nsw.gov.au/customer-serviceAbout youYou will havepreviousexperience in policy roles andbe familiar with government policymaking processesandbe able todemonstrateexcellentresearch andwritingskills. You will have a solid understanding ofhow policy isshaped,andbe able todrive strategicengagementopportunitieswithin government and externalstakeholders.You will be a strategic thinkerwho is able toidentifyopportunities andeffective approaches to solving problems.You will beskilled in workingcollaboratively with others.You have a foundational understanding of the contribution of small business to the community and someof the challenges they face.You have a focus on deliveryand can manage projects with high attention to detail.Some of your responsibilitiesand challengeswill include:Research, analyse and review complex policy issues,identifyingemergingissues, developingevidence basedoptions, and recommended solutions to resolve problems and mitigate risksProvideexpert policy advice and project management, including the preparation of reports/policy papers, briefs, submissions, and leading the development of policy recommendations and delivery of policy initiatives to support Agency and/or Government policy initiativesBuild andmaintainrelationships with key stakeholders,facilitatingtheir engagement in, and contribution to, the identification and development of policy solutions and to inform policy decision-makingOversee the provision of advice to small businesses enquiring about government policies and requirements and respond to complex policy queries, including preparation of correspondence, writtenreportsand briefs, to ensure the provision of consistent advice and informationDelivering policy initiatives and projects to the required standards andtimeframes, given the need to rapidly understand and integrate information and adapt in an often changing and unpredictable environmentLiaising and consulting effectively with stakeholders, internal and external to government on complex and sensitive issuesFor enquiriesregardingthis position, please contactPip Taylor at.What we need from youAn up-to-date CV (no more than 5 pages) and a brief cover letter (2 page maximum) outlining how your skills and experience arealigned to the role.Salary Grade 0910, with the base salary for this role starting at $129464 base plus superannuationClick Here to access the Role Description.
