SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.The Health and Security Assistants (H.S.A) in the Emergency Department (ED) have two primary functionsSecurityProvide security, safety and protection of all staff, patients and visitors to the unit and if necessary in conjunction with Campus Security Services. Respond to and provide assistance to staff, patients or visitors that may be confronted by a hostile or aggressive person under the direction of the nurse in charge, including the use of approved physical restraint techniques.Ward DutiesThe position is a critical component of the team and it is envisaged that it will support the nurses activities with patients as well as acting independently when required. This includes but is not limited to organising serving of patients meals and drinks for patients, cleaning and making of beds, assisting and maintaining a clean environment, assisting patients with personal hygiene needs as appropriate and when requested by the Nurse in Charge and assisting with the care of deceased patients and their transfer to the morgue.Where You''ll be WorkingPrince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370.
