Shape health and safety excellence across Australia''s biggest metro infrastructure program.Lead health and safety delivery for Sydney Metro deploying ongoing specialist support and embedding capability through matrix partnering with project delivery and operations teams, driving work health and safety and rail safety regulatory compliance, and delivering specialist services across construction health and safety, contractor health and safety management, rail safety, occupational health, and heavy vehicle safety.In this role, you''ll:Lead the partnering function collaborating with project leadership and operational teams, stakeholders, and delivery partners to support robust health and safety systems, risk management, governance, and assurance processes.Deliver strategic leadership for development and implementation of health and safety management practices across construction health and safety, contractor management, occupational health and hygiene, rail safety, and heavy vehicle safety.Lead regulatory engagement, own Performance Standards and manage risk controls relating to construction health and safety, Rail Safety, Road Safety, and Occupational Health and Hygiene, and provide assurance to leadership that Sydney Metro meets obligations and legislative requirements.Lead a team of specialists to develop and implement priority programs driving continuous improvement across Sydney Metro, projects, and asset lifecycle.Contribute to Sydney Metro Health and Safety Management System development and enhancement working closely with leadership to ensure obligations are met and Performance Standards continuously improved.Lead Sydney Metro''s rail safety accreditation strategies and deliverables, ensuring legislative and regulatory alignment.Liaise with Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator managing accreditation and engagement.Oversee incident/event database management ensuring accurate reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.For more information on this position and business unit, please view the role description and information pack.About you: Senior H&S Leadership Extensive experience in health and safety management at senior level leading teams of professionals Regulatory Expertise Extensive knowledge of WHS Legislation and Codes of Practice; deep understanding of Rail Safety Management under RSNL Rail Safety Accreditation Experience managing rail safety accreditation and regulatory engagement with ONRSR Matrix Partnering Proven capability deploying embedded specialist support across complex environments Strategic Program Delivery Track record developing and implementing priority H&S programs driving continuous improvement Industry understanding - construction, rail infrastructure, managing critical risk and activities Stakeholder Engagement Track record in building and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with internal teams, regulators, delivery partners, and diverse stakeholders H&S Qualifications Tertiary qualifications in relevant safety discipline (minimum Cert IV WHS or Rail Safety) ESSENTIAL Professional Membership Professional membership of relevant industry body or ability to obtain Rail Safety Worker This role is identified as Rail Safety Worker Who we areSydney Metro is leading Australias biggest public transport infrastructure program, developing and delivering a new world-class metro railway system for Sydney.As a NSW Government statutory authority, Sydney Metro has been tasked with developing and delivering metro railways, and managing their operations.
