About the role Apexx Support Services is seeking passionate and caring Disability Support Workers to join our team in Geelong, Victoria. As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with disabilities to live independently and reach their full potential. Before applying/ reading on please note: It is important that you are available outside of 9am - 5pm hours (we require availability in mornings, afternoons, evenings and overnights) Applicants must be available to work all shift types including 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, and 10pm-6am shifts It is also important that you are confident, or prepared to learn the skills to compassionately support people who experience behaviours of concern. Due to our volume of applications, if you are successful in the next stage of the recruitment process, we will ask you to provide a short video response to 3 interview questions prior to offering a formal interview What you''ll be doing Provide personalised support and assistance to individuals with disabilities, helping them with daily living activities, personal care, and social participation Develop and implement individualised support plans to meet the unique needs and goals of each client Engage clients in meaningful activities, outings, and community involvement to promote their independence and integration Advocate for the rights and interests of clients, ensuring their wellbeing and dignity are prioritised Maintain detailed documentation and records of client progress and service delivery Collaborate with the broader care team, including healthcare professionals, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive support What we''re looking for A genuine passion for supporting individuals with disabilities and a commitment to their empowerment and inclusion A Certificate III or IV in Disability, Community Services, or a related field, or a willingness to obtain these qualifications Experience in the disability or aged care sector, with a demonstrated understanding of person-centred support practices Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a flexible and adaptable approach A can do attitude, and a willingness to learn new skills A valid driver''s licence and reliable transportation to access client locations A current First Aid certificate and Criminal History Check Confidence/ willingness to learn the skills to support people who experience behaviours of concern Broad availability for a range of varied work hours Requirements before commencing First Aid certificate NDIS Worker Screening Check Working With Children''s Check Current Drivers license and own vehicle What we offer Competitive hourly rates and casual employment benefits Ongoing professional development and training opportunities A supportive and collaborative work environment 24/7 on call support About us Apexx Support Services is a leading provider of disability support services in the Geelong region.
