About the roleThe TSPV Systems Engineer will support the Sponsor Project Team for DEF 2150 Integrated Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Processing, Exploitation and Dissemination (PED) Enterprise.This project sits within the Defence Integrated Investment Program and spans multiple capability elements at different stages of Defence and Government approval, including: Operational and training facilities Baseline Air ISR PED ISR Collection Management Integrated ISR PED Analytics InnovationThis is not a traditional design-and-build engineering role. It is a sponsor-side position focused on ensuring that technical and engineering considerations are clearly represented as the project progresses through capability development, delivery planning, governance, and approval will help Defence review, shape, assure, and progress capability outcomes by applying strong systems engineering judgement across a broad range of technical and project activities. Key focus areasThe role is primarily focused on helping the Sponsor Project Team ensure that project outputs remain aligned to capability intent, user needs, and technical are likely to contribute to: Reviewing whether delivery outputs align with project objectives Validating requirements and engineering assumptions Providing technical input into planning and review activities Supporting systems engineering assurance across multiple capability elements Engaging with Defence stakeholders, end users, and delivery groups Helping maintain technical coherence as the program evolvesThis role will suit someone who understands that in complex Defence environments, good systems engineering is not just about technical design it is also about assurance, traceability, governance, and supporting sound decision-making. Responsibilities1 Systems engineering and technical assuranceYou will provide systems engineering support to the sponsor team and help ensure that technical outputs from delivery groups remain aligned with project objectives.This may include: Reviewing engineering activities and outputs Identifying issues, gaps, dependencies, and risks Supporting technical assurance activities Assessing whether engineering work supports sponsor intent and capability outcomes Helping maintain structured technical oversight across the project lifecycle 2 Capability developmentYou will contribute to capability development activities and help ensure capability intent remains aligned with user needs and Defence priorities.This may involve: Supporting updates to the Capability Definition Document suite Assisting with capability refinement and validation Working with stakeholders and end users to clarify requirements Linking engineering considerations with operational and program outcomes 3 Requirements and design reviewsA major component of the role will involve contributing systems engineering expertise to formal review activities, including: System Requirements Reviews System Design Reviews Preliminary Design Reviews Detailed Design Reviews Related review and governance activities where technical input is requiredYou will need to be comfortable reviewing complex technical material, identifying concerns, and contributing clear, evidence-based advice in structured forums. 4 Acquisition and delivery planningYou will support acquisition and delivery planning by contributing technical insight across project activities.This may include: Assessing engineering dependencies Reviewing changes required in OCDs and FPS documentation Ensuring technical considerations are reflected in project planning Supporting alignment between capability intent, documentation, and delivery activities 5 Governance and approvals supportAs a sponsor-side role, this opportunity also includes contribution to governance and approval activities.You may support: Technical inputs to Defence and Government approvals Subordinate approval pathways Engineering advice into governance and decision-making forums Preparation and review of approval-related documentation Sponsor confidence in the technical basis of submissions 6 Stakeholder engagementThis role involves working with a broad range of stakeholders across sponsor, engineering, delivery, and end-user groups.The successful candidate will be able to: Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences Engage constructively with delivery and stakeholder teams Explain technical issues in a structured, practical way Support collaboration across a secure and highly governed environment Likely deliverables and support outputsWhile this is not a pure deliverables-based role, the successful candidate is expected to contribute to a range of structured outputs, including: DEF 2150 Work Plan Monthly Work Plan Progress Reports Six-Monthly Work Plan Updates Capability development and systems engineering support Acquisition and delivery planning support CGR / Defence Capability approval process supportIn practice, this means you will contribute engineering input across ongoing planning, reporting, review cycles, and approval-related activities. It is best suited to someone who is adaptable, delivery-minded, and comfortable supporting different aspects of a complex program while remaining firmly within the systems engineering lane.The work may involve information up to and including Top Secret, though primarily Secret, so the successful candidate should already be comfortable operating in secure, disciplined, high-trust environments.
