We recognise the implications of this status, and while not perfect, recognising we need to do better - compared to other NSW Health Districts, we are significantly further along in our journey to make meaningful gains in Aboriginal Health. WNSWLHD was the first LHD in NSW to develop a Reconciliation Action Plan, with our second plan launched in 2022. We recognise our Aboriginal workforce is key to improving access to mainstream health services, employing over half of NSW Health Aboriginal Health Practitioners, to provide services to just 13% of NSWs Aboriginal population. Over 7% of our workforce identify as being as Aboriginal, in roles across all occupational groups and levels of responsibility. Our ambition is to be a leader and role model for all parts of NSW Health in how we develop and grow work opportunities for Aboriginal people throughout their careers. This position is a key member of a multi-disciplinary team which provides flexible, holistic, and culturally sensitive clinical care to Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander peoples youll be part of shaping the future of health care to your mob. Working across both Primary & Community Health and General Wards you will plan, develop, consultant with community, implement and review Aboriginal health programs, including health promotion/education and disease prevention programs, to ensure they are culturally appropriate and address identified needs. Working closely with children and adolescents in the community, you will assist the child and family health Registered Nurse and working as part of the primary health team in health issue prevention and promotion. You will also provide mentoring support and cultural guidance to new and existing staff members to promote awareness and sensitivity to the cultural needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
