The Opportunity This is a pivotal role for a capable, hands-on leader who knows shutdowns inside out and wants to build something that lasts. Youll spend the first stage of this role leading shutdowns directly operating in a coordinator capacity while you establish systems, grow client relationships, and build team capability across the state. As the workload and team expand, this position will evolve into a full State Shutdown Manager role leading the WA shutdown function, setting strategy, and driving performance across multiple sites. About You Youve come up through shutdowns and mechanical projects likely a tradesperson or coordinator whos developed into a trusted site leader. Youre practical, commercially aware, and enjoy leading teams as much as getting the job right. You build confidence quickly with clients and crews alike and take pride in running well-organised, safe, and efficient shutdowns. Your New Role Youll plan, resource, and lead shutdowns across Western Australia, building Inlines capability, systems, and client relationships as you go. Youll work closely with the leadership team including the State Operations Manager (Workshops) to ensure consistency between site and workshop delivery, while reporting directly to James Taylor. Over time, youll shape and lead a strong, state-based team overseeing all shutdown activity across WA. Role Requirements Proven experience leading or coordinating shutdowns or mechanical project work. Mechanical trade or engineering background. Confident planning, scheduling, and resource coordination skills. Ability to lead supervisors and crews safely and productively. Strong understanding of shutdown cost control and reporting. Comfortable working both on-site and strategically with management. Clear communicator who builds lasting client relationships. Willingness to travel as needed across WA. Key Qualifications, Experience, and Skills Mechanical trade or engineering qualification (preferred). Strong knowledge of fixed plant maintenance and shutdown environments. Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and people development experience. Competent with planning tools and reporting systems. Commercially aware and disciplined with budgets and assets. Practical, confident, and solutions-oriented communication style. Key Areas of Responsibility Shutdown Planning, Mobilisation & Readiness Purpose: Plan and prepare each shutdown for safe, efficient execution. Responsibilities: Lead planning, resourcing, and readiness checks Coordinate with HR/mobilisation for inductions and logistics Conduct site walk-throughs and validate scope On-Site Leadership & Operational Performance Purpose: Deliver shutdowns safely, on time, and on budget. Responsibilities: Lead shutdown execution on site Supervise supervisors and maintain shift alignment Solve issues in real time and ensure productivity Safety, Compliance & Quality Purpose: Maintain complete compliance with client and legislative standards. Responsibilities: Ensure safety reporting and permits are completed Lead by example on safety behaviours and quality outcomes People, Leadership & Team Capability Purpose: Build a capable, engaged team ready for future growth. Responsibilities: Identify and mentor future supervisors and leading hands Foster accountability, communication, and teamwork Commercial & Financial Performance Purpose: Maintain commercial discipline and asset utilisation. Responsibilities: Monitor costs and profitability for each shutdown Manage company shutdown assets and reporting Client & Stakeholder Relationships Purpose: Strengthen client confidence and repeat work. Responsibilities: Represent Inline on site and manage client communication Complete all company and client shutdown reporting Continuous Improvement & Systems Purpose: Introduce improvements that lift performance and efficiency.
