The AIN provides direct care to residents according to their care plans and individual needs as directed by the RN/EN. This position provides support to the care team in the delivery of person-cantered care of residents. The AIN communicates effectively and empathetically with residents and their families/representatives, and ensures they are up to date with any notifications about residents or the home. KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS Resident Care Ensure you are up to date with handover information and important notifications in the communication folder, prior to caring for the residents. As directed by the nurse, provide direct care to residents with consideration of their experience, personal preferences, dignity and wellbeing and how they are feeling during the course of care activities including: showering, bathing, sponging repositioning, pressure area and skin care hair washing, shaving mouth and denture care eye and ear care assistance with toileting providing bedpans and urinals reinforcing instructions on use of aids for mobility or care as detailed in plans of care, where appropriate assisting with positioning, posture maintenance and comfort observing and reporting residents completion of and performance of tasks in line with care plans setting up and assisting with residents meals and fluids for assessed low risk residents, ensuring they have choice with food and drink that is enjoyable to them application of anti-thromboembolic stockings last rites/care of the deceased. assist with meals and consider how you can promote an atmosphere that will help the residents enjoy their mealtimes participating in activities designed to enhance physical, social and emotional wellbeing of the residents. Providing residents with meaningful occupation, social participation and involvement, supported by you, will enhance their wellbeing. assist in the collection of clinical data as directed by the nurse including weighing, measuring residents observations such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, oxygen saturation, post fall observations, and admission activities. Remember the residents are in their home and provide this experience mindfully of their comfort and support. Actively observe residents physical and psychological status and responses during the course of your interactions, within the scope of your training, and report any changes or concerns to the nurse. Observe the residents sense of personal safety such as physical, emotional and psychological. Does an adjustment need to be made? Report resident observations to the nurse. Document all residents responses to direct care/assistance given in accordance with the care plans and Pines Living protocols and so on. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Hold a Certificate III in Aged Care or Individual Support or equivalent. Compassion, caring attitude and proven ability to provide care services to residents in aged care. Excellent verbal and written communication skills able to complete, read and understand standard documentation. Able to read out loud to residents for their interest and enjoyment. Ability to use software for updating forms and reports e.g. Manad. Flexible availability. Demonstrated ability totake initiative and have a positive attitude. Demonstrated commitment to continuing education. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Minimum 1 year of experience working as an AIN. Experience working in an aged care setting. Experience with aged care software to update forms and reports e.g. Manad. Job Timings Need to be available for a mix of morning, afternoon and night shifts.
