We employ, develop and support teachers, leaders and other staff to deliver the best outcomes for students and to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.About the RoleSchool Learning Support Officers provides support for students with identified diverse learning needs including disability in classrooms and other learning environments under the direction and supervision of a teacher to support the achievement of educational outcomes. This support includes student welfare, health and wellbeing activities as required.In addition School Learning Support Officers may provide specific support for students in the following streams or settings: pre-school, vision support, hearing support, and bilingual. Tallowood School is a Department of Education special school established in 2004 with purpose built facilities to cater for students with disabilities from Kindergarten to Year 12. The current enrolment is 99 students. The school has 14 permanent classrooms and 2 demountable classrooms. All students have a moderate or severe intellectual disability. Many students also have complex support needs including Autism, challenging behaviours, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and health care needs. All students have a Personalised Learning and Support Plan (PLSP) developed in consultation with parents/carers, therapists and other key stakeholders which focuses on the achievement of person-centred goals.
