Location: Eveleigh, NSW (hybrid working arrangement)Expressions of Interest are being sought from eligible ongoing and temporary employees of the department to relieve in the Senior Sustainability Officer to commence from8Aprilup to30 October 2026in the Corporate Sustainability team.About the Sustainability TeamThe Sustainability team drives real environmental and social impact to enable Our Plan for Public Education and deliver whole of government priorities.The team''s services are diverse and organised by their primary goals and areas of expertise: Sustainable Infrastructure:Enhance sustainability in capital investments and future-proof departmental infrastructure. School Programs:Assist schools in implementing sustainability initiatives by providing guidance, resources, and incentive programs. Corporate Operations:Improve sustainability outcomes within corporate operations. About the roleThis role is within the corporate sustainability team and develops and delivers programs of innovative sustainability initiatives that are compliant with organisational and legislative requirements. The role also collaborates with multiple NSW government agencies to achieve shared sustainability outcomes.If you are passionate about environmental stewardship and have a good understanding of sustainability consider applying. Be involved in:Developing the department''s sustainability strategy refresh and supporting action plan.Providing sustainability advice to other functions and collaborates with government agencies on sustainability related policies.Leading the development and submissions for sustainability reporting requirements including Net Zero Government Operational Policy and Annual report whilst contributing to the climate related financial disclosures.Project manage initiatives from business case to implementation, including procurement of external consultants and the management of contracts, finances, and variations.Core capabilities required in this role are communicating effectively, influencing and negotiation, planning and prioritisation, project management and solving problems.Who can apply?Permanent and temporary staff are eligible to apply.
