Financial Accountant, Treasury Finance Employment Type: Ongoing Classification / Grade / Band: Clerk Grade 5/6 Remuneration: $99,938 - $110,271; plus, Superannuation and Leave Loading Location: Sydney CBD, Flexible working options available Applications Close: Tuesday, 7 April 2026 at 9:59am Your day as a Financial Accountant As a Financial Accountant at NSW Treasury, youll play a key role in the financial stewardship of the organisation, supporting accurate reporting, compliance and sound financial decisionmaking. Your daytoday work will see you providing handson financial accounting and reporting support, with a particular focus on accounts receivable, billing, reconciliations and monthend processes. Youll contribute to the preparation of Prime submissions, insurance declarations and audit activities, ensuring alignment with Australian Accounting Standards, NSW Government policies and legislative requirements. Youll work closely with colleagues across Treasury, providing clear advice, analysis and guidance on financial processes, systems and controls. This includes supporting stakeholders with expense management, purchasing cards and financial governance requirements, while helping to continuously improve financial policies, procedures and ways of working. Success in this role comes from your ability to manage competing priorities, maintain strong attention to detail, and communicate complex financial information clearly and confidently in a fastpaced public sector environment. Achieve success as a Financial Accountant To thrive in this role, you will bring: Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Finance or a related discipline CA or CPA qualification (or currently studying towards) is desirable Sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and NSW Government accounting policies Strong analytical skills with the ability to ensure accuracy, integrity and compliance of financial data Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and manage competing priorities Welldeveloped written and verbal communication skills Advanced Excel capability and confidence working with financial systems Highlevel interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships A collaborative mindset and commitment to continuous improvement Investing in you The team you will join is made up of a diverse and welcoming group of people.
