Outreach Support Officer (Community & Student Support) The Community College by WEA Co (RTO 90297) Some people just need the right person to back them at the right time. This role is about being that person. At WEA Co, we work toward connected and thriving communities of lifelong learners. Within The Community College, that means supporting people to access education and training in a way that works for them, particularly those who may not otherwise see themselves in it. The Outreach Support Officer plays a key role in this work, connecting with community, building pathways into learning, and supporting people to stay engaged once they take that first step. This is not a traditional admin role, and its not a teaching role. It sits between community, education and support, and is suited to someone who knows how to build trust, follow through, and work alongside people as they navigate their next step. About the role The Outreach Support Officer leads and coordinates outreach, community engagement, and learner support activities to improve access to, and outcomes in, education and training. The role operates across two connected areas: engaging new learners through community partnerships and outreach supporting current learners to enter, remain in, and progress through education and training You will work closely with Program Specialists, trainers, and team members to ensure learners are supported from first connection through to participation and progression. This role contributes directly to increasing participation, retention and progression outcomes, particularly for individuals and communities who may face barriers to participation, in line with the intent of the National Skills Agreement (NSA) Outreach Support Program. What this looks like in practice In a typical week, you might: connect with someone who is unsure if education is right for them and support them to take that first step follow up with a learner who has disengaged and work with them to re-enter when they are ready work alongside Program Specialists to ensure learners are supported end to end build and maintain relationships with community organisations to create referral pathways into programs represent WEA Co at local events, interagency meetings, and community engagement activities across the Illawarra identify barriers to participation and respond through practical support, coordination, and referral Who this role is for This role may suit you if you have experience in: youth work or community services disability or mental health support employment services or case work education support or learner services You may not have worked in an RTO or education setting before, and thats okay. What matters is how you work with people. Role details Position: Outreach Support Officer Business Unit: The Community College Location: Head Office, with regular community engagement across the Illawarra Employment Type: Full-time, fixed term Hours: 37.5 hours per week Classification: WEA Illawarra Enterprise Agreement 2019 - Schedule B Level 6.1 Salary: $77,410 per annum + superannuation This position is funded through the National Skills Agreement (NSA) Outreach Support Program and is offered as a fixed-term contract for up to 2.5 years, concluding in December 2028.
