Position InformationRivendell School is a NSW Department of Education School for Specific Purposes supporting students with complex mental health needs through personalised, evidence-informed educational programs developed in partnership with health professionals, families and schools. The school has a maximum of 107 enrolments across its Concord West and Campbeltown education programs.The Assistant Principal, Learning and Support is based at Rivendell School and works directly with the Strathfield Network of schools to strengthen inclusive practice and improve outcomes for students with additional learning and support needs. The role provides leadership in personalised learning and support, attendance, behaviour support, transition planning, collaborative case management and the implementation of evidence-based adjustments and interventions.The successful applicant will work closely with principals, learning and support teams, teachers, families and external agencies to build school capability, support complex casework and promote inclusive, trauma-informed and relational approaches that enhance engagement, participation and achievement. The role requires strong instructional and strategic leadership, highly developed communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to use data to inform planning, monitor progress and drive continuous improvement across the network.Selection CriteriaIn addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach students with learning and support needs primary and/orexperience teaching students with learning and support needs primary in regular classes. Capacity to provide specialistassistance to students in regular classes with additional learning and support needs and their teachers.Demonstrated ability to lead and embed inclusive, evidence-based practices across the school to improve learning, engagement and wellbeing outcomes for students with additional learning and support needs.Strong knowledge of disability legislation, NSW Department of Education policy, and inclusive education frameworks, with proven experience supporting students with disability, and behavioural challenges.Proven capacity to lead and collaborate with teachers, support staff, families, and multidisciplinary professionals to build staff capability and implement personalised learning and behaviour supports.Demonstrated expertise in curriculum access, NCCD-aligned assessment adjustments, personalised planning and strategic use of learning support resources, supported by strong communication and data-informed decision-making.General Selection Criteria1. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs3.
