Primary objective Registrars are responsible for clerking and managing patients across a range of AOD services including hospital liaison teams, the outpatient opiate pharmacotherapy program and the inpatient withdrawal unit. Key duties and responsibilities 1. Admit, manage and discharge patients from the service under supervision of the Director of Addiction Medical Services. 2. Participate in after-hours on call roster and attend daytime crisis calls in the designated area of clinical responsibility. 3. Provide supervision and training to junior medical staff and other clinical staff as appropriate. 4. Provide reports under supervision as appropriate. 5. Practice in accord with TEMHAODS philosophies, policies, procedures and standards; including establishing and maintaining appropriate client records and complying with management information systems. 6. Interstate travel may be required. 7. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality. Selection criteriaEssential 1. Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as Medical Practitioner 2. Ability to participate in and provide medical education, teaching, supervision and training for a range of health clinicians 3. Experience working with patients with a range of complex problems and the ability to be flexible and demonstrate a non- judgmental attitude while treating these patients 4. Hold a current NT drivers licence or the ability to obtain one. 5. An understanding of the role and function of inpatient and community based, multi-disciplinary AOD health services. 6. Ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures. 7. Proven skills in the effective use of information technology records for the effective delivery of client services. 8. Ability to obtain NT criminal history and working with children clearances. Desirable 1. Experience working with alcohol and other drugs patients and in the field of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health. 2. Approved trainee, or desire to undertake training, with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Chapter of Addiction Medicine or the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) Faculty of Addiction Psychiatry.
