RPA hospital is located in the Inner West of Sydney, about six kilometres from the CBD. It provides quaternary level, high complexity, medical, surgical and obstetrics services, including transplant services. Also on site is the Chris O''Brien Lifehouse, dedicated to cancer care.The diverse patient population cared for at RPA is supported by a wide range of on-site testing in Microbiology - Bacteriology, Serology and Molecular/sequencing. This role provides an opportuniy to lead and develop a team of enthusiastic and capable scientists in the serology laboratory offering tests performed both manually and on automated platforms.What you''ll be doingResponsible for the management of scientific, technical and support staff, all testing and associated activities and logistics for the assigned laboratory. Apply now by addressing the following questions:Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification, with subjects relevant to pathology from a recognised tertiary institution.Well-developed leadership, supervisory and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients, clinical and laboratory staffGood written communication skills including report writing skills, statistical evaluation of scientific data and the ability to effectively communicate policies and proceduresDemonstrated understanding and knowledge of accreditation frameworks, relevant standards, and quality systems.Demonstrated managerial skills with experience in laboratory operations, administration, and budgeting.Advanced knowledge of Pathology Laboratory Information Systems including supervision of e-based Quality Management Systems.Extensive high level knowledge and experience working within the Serology section of the laboratory with knowledge of the operation and maintenance of analytical equipment and experience in staff training and competency assessment.Sound understanding of legislation, policies and requirements that impact the laboratory environment including work health and safety and privacy requirements.Information For ApplicantsNSW Health Pathology is an equal opportunity employer committed to an inclusive workplace.
