Your day as an Assistant Accountant The Assistant Accountant position will involve rotations across Financial Stewardship and Public Reporting teams, the Treasury Finance and Services team and the Risk, Compliance and Audit team and will support FMS to meet all deliverables of the broader team. The role will provide support in the delivery of the Total State Sector Accounts and key reporting aggregates included in the NSW Budget, Half Year Review and Monthly Reporting. The role will also support the Treasury Finance team in providing excellent internal Treasury customer service, maintaining accurate processing of transactional finance services including reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, in accordance with relevant policies, procedures manual and legislation. This role will also assist in the delivery of ad hoc projects in the Accounting Policy and Advice and Financial Management, Legislation, Policy and Advice teams and assist in preparing work papers for the Treasury Audit and Risk Committee. Proactively building robust relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders is paramount, as is your contribution to improving the delivery of outcomes across the NSW Government through effective communication, collaboration, and advocacy with Treasury teams and agency counterparts. Eligibility To apply for our Career Launch Program, you will need to have: Recently completed a university degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Economics, Commerce, Business or Law) or be nearing completion with limited working experience, such as short-term internships or vacation roles. As an entry level role for recent graduates (or those nearing completion of their degree), this opportunity is not designed for candidates with multiple years experience working in accounting or related fields. Strong academic results, coupled with an inquisitive mindset and a willingness to learn on the job. Completed, or currently completing a degree that meets the entry requirements for CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand A strong analytical and problem-solving mindset. Willingness to complete requirements to gain the CPA or Chartered Accountant qualification. Satisfactory employment screening checks with Australian citizenship or Australian permanent residency (at the time of application).
