This role offers up to 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week) with a minimum of 0.5 FTE (20 hours per week) available. Trainees who are close to completing their requirements for FCICM are encouraged to apply for this opportunity.What you''ll be doingThis position provides an opportunity for an energetic intensivist to make a significant contribution to develop and strengthen the Department of Intensive Care. The successful appointee will be required to provide clinical services in the intensive Care Unit as primary intensivist on-call on a rotating basis. Trainees who are expecting to shortly complete their requirements for FCICM are eligible to applyExpertise in the management of critically ill Children and NeonatesDemonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a teamDemonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated commitment to continuing education, quality improvement and intention to participate in paediatric Intensive Care researchAvailability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable timeDesirable skills in one or more of the following: i. Demonstrated training and interest in Oncology Critical Care, with a view to strengthen interdepartmental relationships with the Kids Cancer Care Centre and inform quality improvement and research activities between the departments ii. Demonstrated training and practice in adult intensive care medicine, with a view to strengthen inter-departmental relationships and quality of care. iii. Demonstrated strong interest in the interface between information technology, data, and clinical care. Experience in implementing deployment of CIS. Experience with EPIC an advantage. Track record of developing custom software solutions in the ICU environment. iv. Demonstrated training and practice in paediatric retrieval services with a view to strengthen interdepartmental relationships and quality improvement with Newborn Emergency Transport Service (NETS)The preferred applicant may be considered for the award of a conjoint academic title at a level commensurate with his/her qualifications and experience. The award of the academic title will also confer membership upon the appointee of the relevant University. The academic title will be held for theduration of The Sydney Children''s Hospitals Network appointment. No remuneration is attached to the University appointment.
