Hahndorf Market is a multi-generational award-winning family business and we are seeking an experienced Bakery Manager to lead the daily operations of our busy, award-winning artisan bakery. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who is passionate about quality baking, team development and running a high-performing department within a thriving retail environment. About the RoleAs Bakery Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of bakery operations from production planning and cost control to staff leadership, food safety and merchandising. You will manage a team of up to eight staff, ensuring consistent product quality while meeting operational targets. With near new high-quality equipment and great support, you''ll be comfortable leading the team to deliver high quality products. Early starts (typically around 2am) and weekends are expected of this full-time role. The bakery plays a key role in contributing to the overall success of Hahndorf Market. Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & People Management Recruit, induct, train and develop bakery staff Supervise and allocate duties across the department Provide regular feedback, coaching and performance reviews Manage conflict, performance issues and disciplinary matters Maintain clear communication and a positive team culture Coordinate rosters and timesheets in line with wage budgets Production & Operations Plan, calculate and regulate daily production schedules Manage recipes, ensure consistency and calculate accurate costings Merchandise shelves and optimise department Compliance, Safety & Quality Maintain the highest standards of hygiene and food safety Ensure compliance with Food Safety Business & Administration Maintain financial records, journals and department documentation Work collaboratively with other department managers to ensure smooth store operations About YouEssential Skills & Experience Experience as a Baker Strong production planning and cost control skills Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and manage teams High attention to detail and consistency in recipes and processes Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt to different audiences Qualifications Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (essential) Training will be provided for the successful candidate Certificate III in Baking (highly regarded) Other Requirements Available to work 5 days per week (includes weekends) Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office and Time & Attendance system Must be an Australian permanent resident or citizen To succeed, applicants must be able to: Display a passion for fresh food within the retail industry Express a positive "can do" attitude Problem solve Lead by example Motivate a team Communicate effectively with management, team members, customers and external stakeholders Why Join Hahndorf Market?
