We support our Patients by linking them to case managers for ongoing treatment and support within an environment appropriate to the person''s needs.The NSW Aboriginal Mental Health Traineeship Program, delivered in partnership with the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) Mental Health Service, is an important initiative designed to strengthen the Aboriginal mental health workforce and support the Ministry of Healths commitment to employing one Aboriginal mental health professional per 1000 Aboriginal people. This program plays a vital role in improving access to culturally safe and responsive mental health services for Aboriginal communities and organisations across the region.As part of the NBMLHD traineeship, successful applicants will undertake a threeyear Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health) through the Djirrawang Program at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga. Alongside their academic studies, trainees will participate in a series of supported clinical placements across NBMLHD and work under professional supervision as valued members of the Nepean Blue Mountains Mental Health Service.This unique combination of study, practical experience, and cultural support provides a strong foundation for a rewarding career in Aboriginal mental health and contributes to meaningful change within the community.
