Job Description

Dr Anne Webster MP, Federal Member for Mallee, invites enthusiastic candidates with strong communication and organisational skills to join the team as an ongoing Electorate Officer in the Mildura electorate office. The position is being offered on either a full-time or part-time (0.7 full-time-equivalent) basis. This position is principally a constituent (i.e. customer) engagement and administration role and would suit a highly motivated, productive person with strong written and communication skills. Your key responsibilities will include: Providing high-quality and highly confidential service of constituent enquiries and cases. Liaising with relevant Government Departments and Ministerial Offices on behalf of constituents when required. Maintaining the customer relationship management database record-keeping and data integrity work. Arranging congratulatory messages, community mail outs, flag requests etc. Assisting with attendances at community events, field days etc. General administrative tasks within the Electorate Office. Travel, as required, within the Mallee electorate. Occasional out-of-hours work. Applicants should possess the following skills and experience: It is highly desirable the applicant has: tertiary level qualifications in business, finance, law, communications, or the arts (written skills), and/or demonstrated high level skills in office and financial management. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team. Use of customer relationship management (CRM) digital tools to ensure timely and meaningful communication with constituents and stakeholders. An understanding of the Australian system of government and parliamentary processes. Well-developed office IT skills including Microsoft Office. Outstanding interpersonal skills. Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple and competing work tasks in a fast-paced working environment. Employment conditions: The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 (MOP(S) Act) and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2024-27 which include: A commencing salary within the range of $74,537 $78,911 (or pro rata) will be paid depending on experience, An additional optional allowance of up to $11,610 may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work, Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements), employer superannuation contributions are per cent, and four weeks annual leave plus working days between 25 December and 1 January as paid stand-down.
