Position InformationBullimbal School is located in Tamworth. The student population draws from a wide area of Tamworth, Manilla, Nundle and Quirindi, with the majority of students travelling to and from school using the Assisted School Travel Program. The school provides quality education for students from Kindergarten to Year 12 with moderate or severe intellectual disabilities as well as autism, physical disabilities, mental health, visual or hearing impairments. Currently there are 80 students across 12 classes. At present, the school has a population of 52% Aboriginal students and prides itself on strong connections with the local Aboriginal community.The school was relocated in 2010, incorporating modern, specialised assistive technologies and state-of-the-art facilities including a heated indoor hydrotherapy pool, sensory garden and multi-sensory learning space. The school has a well-resourced and engaging playground environment including bike track, play equipment, vegetable garden and a range of inclusive and purposeful learning spaces.The school continues to be recognised for its achievements in the integration of technology into teaching and learning and provides assistance and guidance to all schools in the New England geographical area through its Assessment Toolbox for Learning and Support (ATLaS) project. Other major focuses for Bullimbal are the incorporation of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems, inclusive Literacy programs for all students through the Four Blocks to Literacy model and its life skills program highlighted by being a mini Woolies school. The school website will provide further detail and a copy of the most recent School Plan outlining the schools current Strategic Directions.Selection Criteria Approval to teach special education and/or experience in teaching students with autism, emotional disturbances, moderate and severe intellectual disabilities and complex health care needs from Kindergarten to Year 12. Experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems that support students in becoming autonomous communicators across school and community settings. Demonstrated ability to design, teach and report on highly-specialised teaching and learning programs to meet the objectives of each students Personalised Learning and Support Plan. Experience in supporting school and community programs that promote and enrich the learning outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Commitment to working as a professional team with outstanding communication, organization and interpersonal skills to assist with building strong and respectful relationships with the school community, visitors and staff.ConditionsAn unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
