Where youll be workingYoull be part of theStatewide Eyesight Preschooler Screening (StEPS)program, based atGloucester Community Health Service, with the location able to be based atForster Community Health ServiceorTaree Community Health Serviceto suit the right candidate. Youll work largely independently in the community while being supported by your localChild and Family/Community Health teamand the broader StEPS network. Your work will take you intopreschools, childcare centres and clinic settings, where youll build strong relationships with families, early childhood services and other health professionals across your local area.About the roleAs anEnrolled Nurse (EN) StEPS Vision Screener, you will providemonocular vision screeningfor4 to 5-year-old childrenin childcare, preschool and clinic environments. Youll help identify potential vision concerns early and ensure children who need further assessment are referred appropriately, supporting their learning and development.You will:Travel to preschools, childcare centres and clinics within your allocated area.Set up, use and pack down vision screening equipment, and ensure it is well maintained.Review consent forms, confirm eligible children and complete child-friendly vision screens.Accurately document results and follow local protocols for referral and follow-up.Liaise with parents and carers, early childhood staff and other health professionals to support understanding and next steps.This permanent part-time role offers flexibility in how your hours are worked across the week, and full training in the StEPS program will be provided.About youYou are anEnrolled Nurse (EN)who enjoys working with children and families and values community-based care.
