You will provide support and guidance to the residents and assist them to source clear avenues for pro social behaviours, such as communication, counselling, negotiation and assessment across a range of family, social and legal issues, which will help the women to build stability and independence postrelease. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a real difference in peoples lives, work in a supportive team environment, and apply your skills in a role that contributes to safer communities and positive longterm outcomes.What youll doAs part of the Transitional Centre team within Corrective Services NSW, you will support female residents transitioning from custody to the community. You will support the day-to-day operations of the centre, including supporting the residents to meet their case work goals, program pathway, and support behavioural change in line with case management principles.You will also maintain safety, security and discipline within the Centre, respond to incidents and crisis, conduct required checks and screenings, maintain accurate and confidential records, and support residents to rebuild social and independent living skills. You will build professional, empathetic relationships with residents and connect them with communitybased government and nongovernment services.Youll work as part of a multidisciplinary, supportive team in a secure, fastpaced residential centre environment focused on rehabilitation, reintegration and positive outcomes.What were looking for Experience supporting clients in corrections, justice, community services, mental health or a related human services setting, including case management or individual support. Ability to work effectively in a secure residential environment, maintain professional boundaries, follow operational procedures, and respond appropriately to challenging behaviours and crisis situations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build professional, empathetic relationships and support residents to access communitybased services. High level of professionalism, integrity and discretion, including the ability to maintain confidentiality and accurate records. Essential Requirements Current paid Working with Children Check Current unrestricted drivers licence and willingness to drive as required Certificate III in Correctional Practice Current First Aid certificate Experience and Additional Requirements Experience as a Correctional Officer and/or within therapeutic residential or custodial environments Willingness and ability to work across all rostered shifts (A, B, C and D) Willingness to escort residents to community and medical appointments (not armed) Experience in negotiation, conflict management and deescalation Download the role description.To apply directly via the DCJ Careers site click here.
