Job description The Administrative Assistant at the AEU Tasmanias Hobart office is central to the harmonious running of the Branch through a friendly reception service, efficient administration and a can-do approach to supporting others. Duties Key Administration tasks Provide friendly and efficient front desk reception for walk-ins and via phone Correspondence manage the unions central email inbox, assist with drafting responses/letters as required; and organise the offices postal mail Events support with organising union events Meetings offer general support such as booking venues/rooms and note taking Manage day-to-day office purchases Provide general administrative assistance to staff and teams as requested. Team Contribution A great team player who takes the initiative to solve problems and help others Provide back-up to other team members as required Participate in wider organisation-based activities and learning opportunities Other duties as required Essential Requirements Excellent general reception skills with the ability to manage phone calls and deal with in-person inquiries Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 including Outlook, Word and Excel Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal with a friendly people-centred approach Strong organisational skills, with proven ability to manage and prioritise tasks Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality Alignment with union values and public education Current C Class drivers licence Appropriate good character checks as may be required by government Desirable Proficiency with using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system Experience in organising events or conferences.
