As a busy heavy vehicle mechanic workshop, our focus is to get our customers back on the road as quickly as possible. Your primary goal as the General Hand is to keep the workshop clean and organised so the mechanics can focus on their jobs without unnecessary hold ups and distractions. As a secondary focus, maintenance of the grounds is also a part of your role. KEY DUTIES Working with the office staff to ensure stock levels are maintained and easily accessible. Keeping the workshop clean and tidy. This includes rubbish removal, cleaning/sweeping the floors, general maintenance and organization of workshop tools. Cleaning of common areas such as toilets, lunchroom and offices. Driving off site to collect parts as needed. General grounds maintenance. Additionally, to these day-to-day tasks, occasionally assisting the mechanics with basic checks or tasks that require 2 people. This could include checking lights, pumping brakes or moving the steering wheel while they check components underneath the vehicle. HOURS & EXPECTATIONS This role is Part Time, 7-12 Monday to Friday. (This schedule is negotiable) These hours may be extended depending on workload and availability. A common-sense approach to both tasks and safety is a must, as is reliability, a positive work ethic and a drivers license. Experience in a similar role would be great but training is available for the right candidate. MR/HR license and forklift tickets highly favourable.
