Role DL Communications is seeking a suitably experienced Technical Officer to join our dynamic team in Canberra, ACT. The ideal candidate will have a passion for developing and maintaining secure systems to support our Defence customer. The position is available for an immediate start. The successful candidate will be required to operate autonomously and be self-driven to conduct activities including fault diagnosis, system test, and integration of mechanical and/or electronic systems for Defence use. There is also requirement to take part in the production and review of technical documentation supporting these activities. Throughout the engagement, the successful candidate will be required to attend and provide support to an operational Defence site. Whilst a candidates attitude and capability to learn new skills in a challenging environment such as Defence is important, preference will be given to someone who possesses as many of the following as possible: Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Familiarity with electrical and data interface standards and protocols (including RS232, EIA530, Ethernet, RF modulation). Familiarity in Military Standard electrical component/subsystem selection and procurement. Experience with product configuration control and baseline management. Familiarity and experience with electronic test equipment including multimixers, oscilloscopes, vector network analysers, spectrum analysers and network throughput testers Experience in working is ESD-Safe Production Environments Experience working within a Defence or government industry. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to prepare and present concise reports, briefings, and instructions. It is also desirable to have experience with the following. Familiarity in network/system security, securing Windows and Linux systems in line with Essential 8 and ISM controls. Experience with installation and maintenance of Structured cabling, with preference given to candidates holding an ACMA Open Cabling Registration. Familiarity with Electronics assembly manufacture and repair including. IPC-A-610 Acceptability of electronic assemblies IPC/WHMA-A-620 Operator requirements and acceptance for cable and harness assemblies. IPC-7711/7721 Rework, modification, and repair of electronic assemblies IPC-J-STD-001 Requirements for soldered electrical and electronic assemblies. It is essential that you have a minimum of 3years demonstrated post graduate experience in an Engineering or Technical discipline. This position may require out of hours support when required as well as occasional interstate travel. Minimum Requirements Candidates will be required to hold and maintain a TSPV security clearance. Candidates must be an Australian Citizen. Candidates will be required to undergo an Australian National Police Clearance check. Please Note: You must be an Australian Citizen with a current NV2 or TSPV clearance, or an NV2 or TSPV clearance that has been held in the past 12 months.
