Job Description

OverviewAt SJP Wellbeing, you won''t just fill a caseload. You''ll be part of a practice that is building, growing into community partnership work, group programs, student placement pathways, and tiered clinical services that sit at the intersection of therapy, education, and community. We are looking for clinician/s who are energised by that and love to be involved in projects.Maybe you work beautifully with young people and their families, you bring expressive and creative modalities, you understand the lived experience of neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ clients, and you want a team around you that genuinely gets it. Maybe you''re a senior clinician who holds the complex end, trauma, couples, layered presentations, and you want to do that work somewhere with real values and real culture. Or maybe you''re someone who can do all of it, and you''ve just been waiting for the right place. We''re open to one exceptional person or two clinicians who each bring something distinct. What matters most is that you''re here for the right reasons. Casual, through to full time, it just depends.Who we areWho we are: SJP Wellbeing is a trauma-informed counselling and psychotherapy practice in Smithfield, built on a single guiding philosophy: Person First, Therapy and Education. We believe that when you genuinely see the person in front of you, everything else follows. Our clinical approach is integrative, drawing on somatic, expressive, narrative, and relational modalities alongside evidence-based frameworks. We work with adults, young people, couples, and families. We run MHFA training. We provide Employee Assistance services. And we are actively developing community partnerships, group programs, and placement pathways that will shape what this practice looks like in the next 3-5 years. We are a small, close team and we take our culture seriously. Our visionTo build a practice in the City of Playford that offers genuine, accessible, high quality mental health support to people who need it most, delivered by clinicians who are thriving in their work. A practice where Person First is not a tagline but a way of operating, in the therapy room, in the team, and in the community. What this role looks likeWe are offering two pathways depending on where your clinical strengths and passion sit:Pathway A: Young People, Families and Community ACA Level 2 or PACFA Registered and above. Approx 3 days per week. Casual. Award rate, super at 12%. Aiming to build the role into FTE.You are at home working with young people, parents, and families. You bring expressive and creative modalities into the room and use them with confidence. You understand neurodivergence not as a deficit but as a different way of being in the world. You are affirming and genuinely knowledgeable working with LGBTQIA+ clients. You may also work with adults navigating parenting, identity, relationships, and life transitions. This is warm, creative, relational work and you love it.Pathway B: Complex Trauma, Couples and Clinical Complexity ACA Clinical Level 3 or 4, or PACFA Clinical. Approx 3 days per week. Casual. Above award, commensurate with experience and caseload development, super at 12%. Aiming to build the role into FTE.You hold the complex end with steadiness and skill. Complex trauma, dissociation, chronic presentations, couples in crisis, and layered clinical pictures are where you do your best work. You may be coming from solo private practice and want the culture and infrastructure of a team around you without losing your autonomy or your clients. You are experienced, grounded, and ready to contribute to something bigger than a solo caseload. Both pathways include clinical supervision, peer consultation, CPD opportunities including MHFA training, and a fully supported admin environment where bookings, recalls, and client communications are taken care of.Think you might be both? Tell us and we''ll have that conversation. What our team says"SJP Wellbeing is a great place to work as a counsellor, with a strong focus on client care.
