About the role As a Veterinary Officer with Biosecurity Tasmania, you will play a key role in improving aquatic and terrestrial animal welfare and protecting the integrity of Tasmanias biosecurity. In this role you will: Conduct fieldbased activities supporting animal biosecurity and welfare programs. Liaise with industry stakeholders and private veterinary practitioners to collect and analyse surveillance data. Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies and programs to mitigate animal disease risks. Assist with emergency preparedness and response in the event of a biosecurity incident. Coordinate specific disease control, surveillance and accreditation programs at the state level. Qualifications A degree in Veterinary Science or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution enabling eligibility for registration under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1987. Band1: Demonstrated interest in advancing epidemiological skills. Band2: At least five years postgraduate professional experience servicing livestock industries; Demonstrated interest in advancing epidemiological skills. Location and Region Location: Hobart, Launceston or Devonport Region: South, North, North West, Statewide (to be negotiated) Hours and Appointment Hours per fortnight: 73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation). Period of appointment: 12 months. Employment type Fixedterm, flexible, fulltime.
