Build and maintain the electronic systems that power Praetorians autonomous interceptor platforms, ensuring mission-ready performance in contested environments. Praetorian Aeronautics builds advanced autonomous aerial systems designed to protect and defend against the rapidly evolving threat of drone warfare. Headquartered in Adelaide, we are developing an integrated ecosystem of counter-autonomy systems including: Arrow an autonomous, high-speed, low-cost, VTOL interceptor for kinetic neutralisation of multiple UxS threat-types beyond visual range Dagger a new class of modular, low-cost, autonomous, high-speed interceptor for long-range, high-altitude kinetic neutralisation of UxS targets Hadrian an AI-enhanced command and control system enabling operators to deploy interceptors at scale Venator a long-endurance autonomous mothership UAS capable of deploying interceptors and extending operational reach Together, these systems enable defence operators to detect, assess, and defeat autonomous threats while maintaining situational dominance in contested environments. Why This Role Matters Modern drone warfare demands reliable, high-performance electronic systems that can operate in harsh and contested environments. From flight control systems to sensor integration, the integrity of onboard electronics directly determines mission success and system survivability. This role ensures Praetorians interceptor platforms and supporting systems are built, tested, and maintained to the highest standard. You will enable rapid prototyping, system integration, and operational readiness across platforms like Dagger and Venator, directly contributing to the deployment of autonomous defence capability at scale. The Role As an Electronics Technician, you will support the build, integration, and testing of electronic systems across Praetorians autonomous aerial platforms. This includes working with embedded systems, wiring harnesses, sensors, power systems, and communication hardware. You will work closely with electrical and aerospace engineers to translate designs into reliable, field-ready hardware. Your work will ensure that critical subsystems are correctly assembled, validated, and ready for integration into larger autonomous systems. What Youll Do Assemble and integrate electronic subsystems for autonomous aerial platforms Build and route wiring harnesses for power, control, and communication systems Test and troubleshoot embedded electronics and PCB assemblies Support system integration across flight hardware, sensors, and communication modules Diagnose and repair faults in electronic systems during development and testing Maintain documentation for builds, test procedures, and configurations What Were Looking For 3-5+ years experience in electronics assembly, testing, or technician roles Strong hands-on experience with wiring, soldering, and electronic integration Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings Experience troubleshooting embedded or hardware systems Solid understanding of electronic fundamentals (power, signals, grounding, etc.) Nice to Have Experience working on UAVs, robotics, or autonomous systems Familiarity with RF systems, sensors, or avionics Experience with test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators) Exposure to defence, aerospace, or high-reliability environments Diploma or degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience Competitive salary and employee share option plan (ESOP) Work on advanced autonomy and defence technology Join a small, highly technical engineering team Real ownership and influence as Praetorian scales Professional development and learning opportunities Security & Compliance Requirements Due to the nature of our work with defence and national security partners, the successful applicant will need to undergo a National Police Check, be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance and comply with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
