Clerk Grade 5/6Ongoing Full-TimeKempseyAbout usThe NSW Police Force (NSWPF) is one of the largest police forces in the western world, with more than 20,000 employees, including more than 4,000 administrative employees who support the sworn officers that provide a range of law and order services 24 hours a day, seven days a week to the socially, geographically and culturally diverse community of NSW.About the roleWe have an opportunity for a Scene of Crime Officer to be part of our Crime Scene Services Branch, Forensic Evidence & Technical Services Command. The Scene of Crime Officers primary role is the provision of technical support services with regard to the gathering and interpretation of forensic examination at volume crime scenes.Primary area of responsibility will be the attendance at volume crime throughout the Mid North Coast Police District, completing both scene attendance and exhibit examinations as tasked by the Northern Rivers Zone supervisory team. Staff will from time to time assist with scene attendance at neighbouring Manning Great Lakes Police District. Successful applicants will be required to demonstrate an ability to work independently and be prepared to travel distances in remote locations.The Mid North Coast Police District is situated on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, centred 450 kilometres north of Sydney. The District includes around 160 kilometres of coastline and extends inland for up to 85kms and covers an area of 8,558 square kilometres. The District extends west to the Great Dividing Range.Forensic Evidence & Technical Services employees who may have contact with crime scenes or related exhibits as a part of their duties, and visitors to FETS facilities where these examinations take place, can be asked to provide a DNA sample for elimination purposes, to be included on the Quality Assurance Register (QAR) maintained by the Forensic and Analytical Science Services (FASS) laboratory.Employees seeking employment into operational or laboratory roles must provide a DNA sample on commencement of their employment.
