MHHITH is a key component of the MHDAS acute care continuum, sitting alongside inpatient units, crisis assessment teams, and community services. It enables consumers to receive intensive, shortterm treatment in their own environment, supporting recovery while reducing hospital admissions. This model is a direct outcome of the Royal Commission into Victorias Mental Health System, positioning MHHITH as a flagship reform service within MHDAS.
