Based in the College of Engineering and IT at the Adelaide City Campus East Full-time (1.0FTE), fixed term contract for 12 months (Level A) $81,293 - $109,307 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies. Work that matters This role drives the development of an innovative solar concentrator prototype, advancing the Universitys renewableenergy research while contributing to cleaner, lowcost thermal technologies for industry and society. The Researcher will design, build, and validate solar thermal concentrator systems, managing prototype development from concept to fieldtested performance. This will involve the preparation and delivery of project documentation, including midterm and final reports, and supporting engagement with project partners and stakeholders. The team Reporting to the Chief Investigator of the AEA Ignite project, this role supports the Universitys solarthermal innovation stream, advancing technologies that strengthen Australias transition to sustainable energy solutions. Experience To join our community and thrive in this role, you will likely have the following skills and experience: A PhD in mechanical engineering, energy engineering, renewable energy, or a related discipline. Candidates nearing completion may be considered where thesis submission is imminent and relevant expertise is demonstrated. Demonstrated research track record in solar thermal systems, energy systems, or related fields. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and preparation of engineering drawings. Demonstrated handson experience in experimental systems, including rig design, instrumentation, and troubleshooting. Special Requirements Willingness and ability to work regularly at a remote field site (ABLRF, 2 km North of Adelaide University Roseworthy Campus). A valid drivers licence and ability to travel independently to the ABLRF field site is required. It would be considered an asset if candidates also have: Experience with solar concentrators, heliostats, or tracking systems. Experience with field testing and outdoor experimental campaigns. Experience in industry collaboration or technology commercialisation. Experience in thermalfluid systems or heat transfer applications.
