Location: Horsley Park, Sydney, AustraliaDuration: permanentSydneys largest equine veterinary practice is currently accepting applications for an experienced Equine Anaesthesia Associate.REC Equine Specialists is a large, 28 veterinarian, equine practice based on the outskirts of Sydney. The team includes specialists in anaesthesia, surgery, internal medicine, emergency/critical care and sports medicine based at our purposebuilt equine hospital which features dedicated anaesthesia areas, intensive care and isolation areas, advanced imaging including nuclear medicine and standing/general anaesthesia CT suites.The position involves coordinating and overseeing anaesthesia requirements for the hospital supported by a team of associates trained and experienced in anaesthesia, anaesthesia interns and nurses. In addition, is supported by specialist anaesthesia consultant Dr Colin Dunlop BVSc Dip AVCA. The caseload (~ 700 general anaesthetic procedures p.a.) includes a variety of both elective and emergency cases, predominantly Thoroughbred racehorses, yearlings and significant number of foal through to geriatric procedures.The successful applicant will work in designated preanaesthetic, general, orthopaedic, soft tissue and standing surgical suites using the latest maintenance, ventilation and monitoring equipment.We are looking for a team player with excellent communication and organisational skills and the flexibility to adapt schedules to incorporate emergencies. The practice has a long history of commitment to training and mentoring interns and new graduates.Applicants with several years of designated experience in equine anaesthesia or completion of an anaesthesia residency will be considered.Remuneration will be commensurate with the applicants qualifications and experience and will include mobile phone, 4 weeks annual leave & 1 weeks study leave.
