The key duties of the position include:The OpportunityASIO is seeking an experienced leader to fill the role of Chief Financial Officer at the Assistant Director-General (Senior Executive Service Band 1 equivalent) level. As part of the senior leadership team, you will provide impactful strategic and tactical advice to maximise the outcomes through funding and investment decisions. A merit pool may be created to fill future vacancies which have the same or similar requirements to this position. This merit pool will be valid for up to 18 months. Role responsibilities As ASIOs Chief Financial Officer you will: Demonstrate and promote ASIOs Leadership Behaviours and effective people management. Provide insight and advice on financial management to achieve ASIOs objectives. Demonstrate strong financial leadership and budget accountability. Oversee external budget matters including mid-year economic fiscal outlook and the portfolio budget and estimates statements. Maintain key relationships with the Home Affairs portfolio and Department of Finance. Oversee internal resource planning, including working with the senior executive to enhance financial literacy and performance. Lead uplift in ASIOs policies, practices and financial management systems to drive productivity and improve business intelligence to enable financial decision making. Lead ASIOs procurement function, including uplifting commercial acumen in your team and across ASIO to deliver outcomes and value for money. Ensure ASIO meets its statutory reporting requirements. Lead and support efforts to improve efficiency and drive out costs from the business. EligibilityWhat you will bringWe are seeking candidates with the following capabilities: Demonstrated record of achievement leading Commonwealth financial management and services, accountabilities and obligations. A system thinker with demonstrated ability to provide strategic insight and detailed inquiry to the financial position of business activities, programs and projects. Experience successfully leading finance teams to deliver high quality outcomes and capability uplift in a complex and changing environment. Exceptional communication skills that lead to successful working relationships and outcomes. Demonstrated ability to build strategic partnerships across the public and private sectors that provide mutual benefit and deliver impact and influence. Demonstrated ability to prioritise and continuously adapt to deliver results in a dynamic, high-pressure and challenging environment. Demonstrated ability to uplift capability in your team and across an enterprise to achieve outcomes. Demonstrated ability to deliver within budget and drive out costs from the business. Eligibility To be eligible for the role, you must be: An Australian citizen. Assessed as suitable to hold and maintain a TOP SECRET-Privileged Access security clearance. Hold a Certified Practicing Accountant or Chartered Accountant qualification.
