ABOUT GEMCO Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 15% of the worlds manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963. Roster consideration given for embarkation out of Brisbane. As the Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for providing specialist safety support across complex operational activities by assuring systems, influencing leaders and integrating effective risk management into everyday work. Other key responsibilities include, but arent limited to: Support accuracy and consistency of health and safety data and reporting Confirm timely and appropriate closeout of safety actions Work alongside operational teams to support investigations and risk assessments Deliver clear safety communications and practical advice across work fronts ABOUT YOU You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: Supporting safety outcomes within mining or largescale construction environments Operating confidently in complex settings with multiple hazards, contractors and priorities Ability to explain insights clearly and support practical, peoplecentred improvement Experience working with enterprise safety or risk management systems Qualifications Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (minimum requirement) Diploma of Work Health and Safety or higher (preferred) ICAM or equivalent incident investigation training (beneficial) Current C Class Drivers Licence South32 is committed to building and maintaining an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the communities in which we operate.
