About the Role We are seeking a Senior Rail Project Manager to lead the delivery of telecommunications systems for major rail clients across Western Australia. This is a 6-month fixed-term contract, with a strong likelihood of extension based on project performance and pipeline. The role requires a strategic and handson leader capable of managing complex rail telecom projects, including fibre networks, IP/MPLS systems, radio communications, and integration with signalling and operational systems. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in line with client and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Lead the end-to-end delivery of rail telecommunications projects, from initiation through to commissioning and handover Drive APDs First Time Right philosophy, ensuring quality and efficiency across all phases Strategic Oversight Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource plans Balance scope, cost, and time constraints across complex, multi-disciplinary projects Stakeholder Engagement Build and maintain strong relationships with rail clients, contractors, and internal teams Act as the primary point of contact for project communications and escalation Implement robust governance frameworks aligned with rail industry standards and safety requirements Manage project risks, compliance, and reporting obligations Lead and coordinate engineers, technicians, subcontractors, and delivery partners Mentor junior staff and support capability development across the team Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with client stakeholders Develop and maintain detailed project plans, tracking milestones, risks, and dependencies Oversee design, installation, testing, and commissioning of telecommunications systems Ensure seamless integration with rail signalling, control, and operational systems Coordinate site activities, including works within live rail corridor environments and shutdown periods Lead governance meetings, safety reviews, and progress reporting Manage project handovers, ensuring complete documentation and client readiness Monitor performance and proactively resolve issues to maintain delivery outcomes What Youll Bring Proven experience delivering telecommunications projects within the rail sector (essential) Strong background in managing complex infrastructure or transport projects Solid understanding of rail telecommunications systems, including fibre optics, IP/MPLS, and radio networks RIW card Demonstrated experience working within Public Transport Authority (PTA) or similar rail environments (highly regarded) Demonstrated experience working within Nokia Projects (highly regarded) Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, risk management, and governance Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills Ability to lead teams in highpressure, operational environments Willingness to work in rail corridor environments, including night works or shutdowns where required Reporting to the Rail Telecommunications Lead, you will work closely with client representatives, engineers, and delivery teams to ensure successful project outcomes. This role requires strong crossfunctional leadership and the ability to align technical and commercial objectives. Location Based in Perth, Western Australia, with access to APDs offices in Osborne Park and the Perth CBD. Regular site visits to rail corridors and project locations will be required.
