Position Overview St John of God Bunbury Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Fitter to join our Engineering Services team and help keep a busy hospital running smoothly. Responsibilities Preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance (Planned preventive inspection, repair, maintenance and fault finding) of HVAC, mechanical and associated equipment and services to maintain hospital quality standards. Undertake reactive repairs to all types of HVAC and mechanical equipment to ensure systems are restored to service with minimum interruption. Work closely with and technically report to the maintenance coordinator in execution of daytoday engineering activities. 1st line maintenance and repair of fan coils, AHUs, chillers, air vents and ducts, HVAC systems & associated control systems. Changing filters, pumps, belts, motors, boiler work, replacing steam traps and valves. Utilise BMS systems to ensure HVAC and mechanical systems are operating correctly and at optimum efficiency. Implementation of minor projects and oversight and planning of major HVAC and mechanical installation workincluding pipework, heating/cooling central plantto improve or preserve equipment performance. Liaise with and coordinate subcontractor activities in the area of mechanical building services. Assist and prepare for annual audit inspection of mechanical systems and plant. Maintain PPM records. Accountable for uninterrupted operation and meeting KPIs specific to ownership area. Carry out daily/weekly plant room checks including BMS monitoring as covered in maintenance strategy. Make recommendations for improvement of maintenance practices for reduced downtime and cost optimisation. Oncall support including phone support for hospital site. Regular performance review additional to annual performance reviews. Provide inputs in maintaining adequate stock levels for efficient operation of HVAC and mechanical plant and services. Support other trades in the engineering team as required/directed. Attend team meetings. Complete job history and details in computerized maintenance management system. Perform housekeeping of the work area, workshop and postjob cleanup. Reporting on job progress to maintenance coordinator and highlighting holds in a timely manner. Attend relevant training sessions offered by SJGHC and recognise the necessity to continually develop skills and acquire additional knowledge appropriate to the position. Qualifications Recognised trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter and/or HVAC Technician. Minimum of four (4) years experience in a similar role. Proven experience in commercial building maintenance, including planned and reactive works across mechanical plant and building services. Strong faultfinding and problemsolving skills. Comfortable working across varied environments such as plant rooms, patient areas, operating suites, kitchens, offices and outdoor settings. Strong focus on safety and compliance. Physical capability including walking long distances, climbing stairs with tools and lifting equipment when required. Flexibility to work overtime, after hours and participate in oncall roster. Benefits Salary: $74,237 to $91,620 per annum, plus 12% superannuation. Permanent fulltime position working 76 hours per fortnight.
