Job Title: Road Maintenance OfficerLocation: Local Council Employment Type: Casual (Working Full-Time Hours) About the Role: This role is responsible for assisting in the delivery of road and drainage maintenance services to agreed safety, quality and service standards. The position focuses on maintaining road infrastructure in a safe, clean and structurally sound condition through the effective operation of plant, equipment and vehicles. The role involves both programmed and reactive maintenance works, preventative plant maintenance, and participation in emergency and after-hours response activities. Working closely with team members, contractors and supervisors, the position contributes to continuous improvement, safety outcomes and reliable service delivery to the community. Key Responsibilities: Inspect, maintain and repair road, drainage, roadside and bridge infrastructure in accordance with approved standards Undertake condition assessments and accurately record asset and work data in maintenance systems Plan and carry out maintenance works, including selection of appropriate repair techniques, plant, equipment and materials Install traffic management devices, signage and barriers in line with relevant codes of practice Operate trucks, trailers and plant equipment safely and in compliance with legislative requirements Conduct daily pre-start and post-shift inspections, complete logbooks and report defects Ensure worksites are reinstated, clean, tidy and safe on completion of works Participate in emergency response and after-hours duty rosters as required Supervise and support junior staff, trainees and contractors Contribute to service improvement initiatives, team meetings and training activities Comply with work health and safety, risk management and environmental sustainability requirements Key Requirements: Certificate III in Civil Construction/Plant or substantial relevant experience in road maintenance Current drivers licence and heavy or medium rigid truck licence Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining heavy plant and road maintenance equipment Knowledge of road and drainage maintenance practices, materials and repair techniques Understanding of traffic management requirements and road works signing standards Ability to plan, prioritise and monitor work activities to meet service levels and deadlines Ability to maintain accurate records, including work reports and logbooks Experience supervising or working with contractors and junior staff Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders Commitment to safety, teamwork and continuous improvement Pre Employment Checks: Working With Children Check to be obtained prior to commencement Police Check to be obtained prior to commencement About Us: Work Solutions (Melb) is a leading casual employment agency, focused on connecting individuals with fulfilling roles that offer great work culture, professional growth, and work-life balance.
