THE POSITION We are looking for a motivated self-starter to join our friendly and supportive Finance team as an Accounts Administrator (Apprentice). This role is an apprenticeship, and the successful candidate will have their studies fully supported by REG. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who would like to start their career in finance and build up their knowledge and skills while working towards their accountancy qualifications. This is a junior entry-level role and whilst experience is desirable, it is not essential. The role will deliver a solid foundation in finance administration, covering areas such as double-entry bookkeeping and basic costing principles. ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES Day to Day Accounting Timely and accurate uploading and coding of purchase invoices using OCR system. Processing of company card statements, staff expenses and mileage claims. Setting up and maintaining supplier accounts Supplier statement reconciliations. Cash Management Recording and allocating multi-currency payments and receipts Assisting with the preparation, posting, and allocation of weekly payment runs Financial Management Maintain and ensure that the accounting policies & procedures are strictly adhered to. Assist at month end ensuring the process is closed off quickly and efficiently. Assist with the year-end process, internal and external audits. Carry out any other ad-hoc work as requested by line manager. QUALIFICATIONS Evidence of a good standard of general education, a minimum of 5 GCSEs Grade A-C passes or 4-9 including Maths and English is essential. A good level of excel skills are required. Previous experience with accounting systems is preferable but not essential. ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED The person holding this position is required to be confident, proactive and committed. Attention to detail, accurate data entry and being organised is essential. The holder must be able to communicate well at all levels and work harmoniously as a member of a team. A sense of humour and punctuality are also important. APPRENTICESHIP ELIGIBILITY The individual must meet all the criteria below to start an apprenticeship: Be aged 16 or above (No upper age limit) Must not already be studying any other government funded learning / qualification or apprenticeship. This includes degree (student loan accessing government funding already) Must not have a higher qualification in the same subject area as the apprenticeship they wish to commence, i.e., Finance or accounting. Have the right to work in the UK Be a UK National or an individual with the Right of abode in the UK and having lived in the UK for a minimum of 3 years.
