Hancock Energy has a full-time opportunity for a Health & Safety (HS) Manager to join a growing team supporting onshore Oil and Gas projects throughout Western Australia. This opportunity is within the Health Safety, Environment and Corporate Services team. The role will establish, implement, and lead the Health and Safety corporate function for Hancock Energy. The role requires strategic HS leadership, operational oversight, and strong stakeholder engagement to deliver a safe, compliant, and resilient workplace. Key Responsibilities: HS Management System Contribute to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the organisations Health, Safety and Environment Management System (HSEMS) in line with WA legislation, regulatory requirements, and industry best practice. Oversee contractor and supplier HS management, including prequalification and performance monitoring. Manage the development and implementation of, and compliance with, HS programs. Establish and maintain current corporate policies, standards, procedures and audit frameworks appropriate for the Hancock Energy operations. Develop, maintain and lead HS leadership programs and workforce engagement initiatives. Identify areas of improvement and efficiency in HS tools currently in use within the organisation. Assist with the development of any safety cases required for Hancock Energy operations or projects. Develop and drive a proactive safety culture across the business, embedding safety leadership at all levels. Champion process safety and asset integrity standards. Provide coaching and support to line managers to enable safe and accountable operations. Maintain effective communication with staff and contractors on HS issues relevant to operations. Identify, monitor, mitigate and review risks assigned to the HS Manager. Provide advice and assistance on managing all HS risks. Develop, implement and maintain a risk based approach to HS activities and decision making. Advise the Executive Team on HS risks, performance, and emerging regulatory changes. HS Compliance and Assurance Ensure compliance with legislation (including but not limited to) Work Health and Safety Act 2020 Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations 2022 Work Health and Safety (Petroleum and Geothermal Energy Operations) Regulations 2022 Dangerous Goods Safety Act 2004 Lead regulatory engagement with WorkSafe WA, LGIRS, and other authorities. Ensure regulatory HS reporting to regulatory agencies on Hancock Energy operations. Establish and track HS performance metrics (lagging and leading indicators). Analyse HS performance metrics for trends and variances. Report performance to the Executive Team, Board, and regulators. Audit HS risks across project phases (exploration, development, construction, commissioning, operations). Report on these risks at a corporate function level independent of the project or asset team. Keep up to date on developments in relevant HS legislation and regulations, advise on the impact of these developments and manage changes to systems and processes to ensure compliance with these developments. Manage relevant incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions. Implement continuous improvement programs and lessons learned from incidents. Assist in developing emergency response and crisis management systems, including training and exercises. HS Team Management Build and lead the HS team, including recruitment, training, mentoring and professional development. Preparation of HS team business plans as required. Other tasks as directed from time to time. To be successful in this role, you will need: Oil and Gas experience Tertiary qualification in Health & Safety, Occupational Hygiene, Engineering, or related discipline. 10+ years HS leadership experience in oil & gas, energy, or heavy industry. Of particular relevance is HS experience during major facility construction and project development phases. In particular gas plant, pipelines and downstream facilities. Proven track record in developing and implementing HS systems for greenfield projects. Be able to work collaboratively and constructively with other HSE professionals in the team. Strong knowledge of WA HS legislation, oil & gas regulations, and process safety standards. Experience in engaging with relevant local regulators Demonstrated leadership, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
