We are seeking one parttime Support Worker to join our Families, Young People and Communities team within the Families Together program, commencing 1 July 2026. The position will work across the Kempsey and Port Macquarie Local Government Areas (LGAs) and will be based out of Blue Skys Port Macquarie office. This role is 38 hours per fortnight and is offered on a fixedterm basis until 30 June 2031. This role requires a willingness to travel within the region. The position also involves participation in a 24/7 oncall phone roster shared across the team, with oncall allowances paid in accordance with the SCHADS Award. Successful candidates will be required to work flexibly between the hours of 6am and 8pm on weekdays as needed to respond to the needs of families. This position sits within Blue Skys Families Together Service funded by the NSW Department of Communities and Justice under the Family Preservation Program. Support Worker Responsibilities support children to remain safe at home with their families, helping prevent entry into Out of Home Care and further involvement with the child protection system work alongside the Family Practitioner to support families to engage with family action plans and case plans provide practical, handson support to families, including transport, reminders, accompaniment to appointments, and assistance accessing services build trusting, respectful relationships with families to promote engagement, participation, and followthrough on agreed goals support parents and caregivers to build capacity, including strengthening routines, communication, parenting skills, and daily functioning assist families to connect with local services and resources, including health, education, housing, and community programs monitor family safety and wellbeing during contact, escalating concerns or emerging risks to the Family Practitioner in line with organisational procedures maintain accurate, timely documentation and case notes, contributing to service outcomes, reporting requirements, and KPIs. Qualifications and Experience a relevant qualification in Community Services or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience delivering traumainformed, familycentred support to vulnerable children and families a First Aide Certificate (or willingness to undertake training) a willingness to travel within the local area to support families the ability to consistently align behaviours, attitudes, and conduct with the organisations values, culture, and Code of Conduct a general understanding (or willingness to learn) of Family Preservation systems and the NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) a strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service the ability to quickly learn, adapt to, and proficiently use information and communication technology systems, including the Microsoft suite, client management systems, and databases the capability and willingness to confidently and accurately promote the Families Together program, including its goals, activities, processes, and functions a friendly, kind, and positive approach, with a strong cando attitude a desire not only to meet expectations, but to consistently exceed them highly developed organisational skills, with the ability to work efficiently and effectively. About the Families, Young People and Communities Team The Families, Young People and Communities team works with young people (aged 8 to 24) and their families, parents and carers to ensure young people are safe and connected, and parents are supported to strengthen family relationships, providing a wide range of support options for individuals, groups, and families.
