Operate a road train (MC licence preferred) for cartage to Port Giles. Work with modern John Deere & a new New Holland header. A diverse role encompassing broadacre cropping, sheep, and cattle. The Role This is a diverse and critical operational role within a high-performing family farm situated on the beautiful Southern Yorke Peninsula, SA. While the primary focus is on broadacre cropping, this position offers comprehensive involvement across the entire farming enterprise, including sheep and cattle operations. A major component of the role involves utilising a new road train (MC license preferred) to transport harvested commodities, principally to Port Giles. You will be involved in all aspects of crop production, working with a state-of-the-art fleet of machinery, including John Deere tractors and self-propelled sprayers, as well as a new New Holland header. The farm employs best-practice techniques, running a controlled traffic system at 3m spacing to maximise efficiency and yields. Furthermore, you will assist with livestock management, specifically with cattle that are sold into feedlots at 350kg, and the established sheep enterprise, which includes working with a, purpose-built lamb feedlot. Stock work is managed efficiently using bikes and dogs. This is a unique opportunity to step into a stable role, replacing a respected staff member who had a long tenure with the business. The Ideal Candidate The employer is seeking a trustworthy, experienced, and mechanically minded individual ready for a long-term commitment. Strong cropping cycle knowledge and experience Preference to hold or be willing to gain a current Road Train Licence (MC) and be fairly experienced in farm operations. Mechanically minded with a very neat and tidy presentation standard. Ideally trustworthy and committed to a non-smoking work environment. Competent in livestock work using bikes and dogs.
