The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services. Wollongong is located an hours drive south of Sydney on a narrow coastal strip bordered by the Royal National Park to the north, Lake Illawarra to the south, the Tasman Sea to the east and the Illawarra Escarpment to the west. Learn more about the lifestyle benefits of living and working in Wollongong.What you''ll be doing To provide Anaesthetic Services to patients of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Hospital District (ISLHD), while consolidating experience and expertise in Anaesthetic practice in a complex clinical environment; under the supervision of Anaesthetic Specialists as appointed by ISLHD and demonstrating growing independence as the year progresses. A range of clinical interests can be accommodated and are encouraged. The Wollongong Hospital is a large tertiary centre with a complex, high volume surgical population and a large variety of surgical specialities. Specifically, the hospital runs up to 15 operating theatres daily, with surgeries including advanced ENT, Airway, Head and Neck, Neuro, Major Upper GI, Colorectal, Urology, Orthopaedics and Trauma, Plastics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The department offers three general and two specialised (Regional Anaesthesia and Simulation/Education) provisional fellowship programs. Provisional fellows are also provided high level teaching and experience in the management of difficult airways, paediatrics, complex emergency surgery and major haemorrhage (with ROTEM). There are also multiple additional opportunities to take up administrative, quality assurance, sustainability, and teaching roles to further develop the Provisional Fellow breadth of skills as required by ANZCA.
