Learn more about the lifestyle benefits of living and working in Wollongong.What you''ll be doing To provide Anaesthetic Services to patients of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Hospital District (ISLHD), while consolidating experience and expertise in Anaesthetic practice in a complex clinical environment; under the supervision of Anaesthetic Specialists as appointed by ISLHD and demonstrating growing independence as the year progresses. A range of clinical interests can be accommodated and are encouraged. The Wollongong Hospital is a large tertiary centre with a complex, high volume surgical population and a large variety of surgical specialities. Specifically, the hospital runs up to 15 operating theatres daily, with surgeries including advanced ENT, Airway, Head and Neck, Neuro, Major Upper GI, Colorectal, Urology, Orthopaedics and Trauma, Plastics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The department offers three general and two specialised (Regional Anaesthesia and Simulation/Education) provisional fellowship programs. Provisional fellows are also provided high level teaching and experience in the management of difficult airways, paediatrics, complex emergency surgery and major haemorrhage (with ROTEM). There are also multiple additional opportunities to take up administrative, quality assurance, sustainability, and teaching roles to further develop the Provisional Fellow breadth of skills as required by ANZCA.
