Job Description

Based in the College of Health within the School of Medicine 2x Fulltime, fixed term contract positions available until December2026 with the possibility of extension (HEO6) $92,511$99,929 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies Role The Research Officer will contribute to highquality experimental research within the Breast and Prostate Cancer Research Program, including the execution of molecular and preclinical experiments, and the generation, analysis, and preparation of research data. The role involves supporting data interpretation, documentation, and reporting for research outputs, as well as contributing to effective laboratory operations, governance, and maintenance of research records and databases. Team The Dame Roma Mitchell Cancer Research Laboratories (DRMCRL) is a Division of the Discipline of Medical Specialties within the School of Medicine. The DRMCRL undertakes internationally recognised research focused on breast and prostate cancer, integrating molecular, cellular, and preclinical approaches to advance cancer biology, prevention, and treatment. The Laboratories foster a collaborative, multidisciplinary research environment supporting highimpact discovery and translation. Experience Experience conducting molecular biology experiments in a wet laboratory setting, including genomewide or highthroughput techniques (e.g., ChIPseq, RNAseq, ATACseq or related assays). Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate experimental documentation and research data records, and to contribute to the analysis, interpretation, and presentation of research data for reports and publications. Experience in working with generalist software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel) and relevant specialist software for data analysis, visualisation, and data management. Strong organisational, communication and problemsolving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment. A degree in Science, Biology or a related discipline with Honours, or equivalent relevant research experience. Desirable Knowledge of hormonedependent cancer biology and/or breast and prostate cancer research. Experience in small animal handling and husbandry, including tissue collection, drug administration, anaesthesia, and minor procedures. Experience working within regulated research environments, including ethics, compliance, standard operating procedures and risk assessments. Experience working with patientderived samples or translational research pipelines is advantageous. Demonstrated capability in both molecular biology and preclinical animal models will be highly regarded.
