About The Role Full time fixed term for six months Band 5: Annual salary range $78,691 to $90,266 + 12% superannuation Secondments from other councils supported Based in Leongatha with flexible/hybrid options available Would you like to become a valued member of our enthusiastic Planning team? As Statutory Planning Officer you will be enthusiastic and passionate about rural, urban, environmental, tourism and economic development issues in South Gippsland. This role will provide an efficient and effective customer focussed statutory planning service to the community that will encourage the sustainable growth of South Gippsland Shire Council. Key Responsibilities Include Assessing planning permit applications and responding to statutory planning-based customer enquiries. Making recommendations on statutory planning matters including planning enforcement. Administering Planning Scheme policies and other planning controls which encourage sustainable development. Communicating with all stakeholders to foster an understanding of planning processes. Ensuring a high standard of service delivery in the entire range of planning services. Preparing and presenting reports to Council, VCAT and Panel Hearings. About You A tertiary degree in Town and/or Regional Planning or similar. Appreciation of matters involved in assessing Rural, Urban and Coastal, commercial and industrial development applications. Problem solving, decision making and analytical skills. Strong customer service focus. Well developed written and verbal communication skills.
