Job no: 500514 Work type: Permanent Full Time Classification: Band 6 - Commencing at $95,760 pa Categories: Building Services, Community Safety & Regulation About the role In this role, you will deliver inspection services across a diverse range of structures, ensuring the right actions are taken to achieve compliance with all relevant Acts and Regulations. Key responsibilities include: Provide customers with a professional and up to date advisory service and assist the public with enquiries. Provide subject matter advice when required to the department leaders and other relevant stakeholders. Assisting the Municipal Building Surveyor (or Delegate) in facilitating Part 8 of the Building Act. Assist in the coordination of key programs of works to ensure Council meets its Statutory obligations in areas such as Swimming Pool and Spa register, Essential Safety Measures Audits, Caravan Parks registrations and renewals, and other priority works as directed. Assist in the assessment of building permits applications and other approvals, including Places of Public Entertainment, Temporary Occupancy Permits and Structures. Carrying out of mandatory building inspections and other inspections as required by the Act and Regulations (i.e Place of Public Entertainment, Temporary Occupancy Permit and Structures and Public Precautions). Assist in representing Council in public forums, legal proceedings and appeal hearings, including in the preparation of documentation for submission as requested. Participate in an emergency on call roster, as required. About you To be successful in this role, you will have a recognised qualification, such as Bachelor of Building Surveying, Advanced Diploma of Building Surveying, or similar. Experience in undertaking mandatory building inspections under Part 12 of the Building Regulations 2018. Demonstrated experience in undertaking field inspections to assist clients in understanding requirements of the building legislation and regulations. Proficient theoretical and practical knowledge and ability to interpret building and associated legislation, regulations and practices. Knowledge and ability to interpret building and associated legislation, including Building Act 1993, Building Regulations 2018, Building Code of Australia and Referenced Australian Standards. Proficient computer skills, including MS Office Suite and database management. Demonstrated people skills to support, influence, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders. Current registration in the category of Building Inspector issued by the Building & Plumbing Commission. Possess current, valid drivers licence. Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a Working with Children''s Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
