The Warren Region is home to the wellknown DEntrecasteaux and Walpole Nornalup national parks as well as the recently created Walpole Wilderness area and Walpole Nornalup Inlets Marine Park. Many other parks and reserves as well as significant areas of State forest make up the majority of the land that we manage. The landscape of the region includes a diversity of coastal heath, tall karri forests to open jarrah and wandoo woodlands to the remnant Tingle forest. The region has wetlands of international and national significance, pristine estuaries and wild rivers. Our key service deliverables are nature conservation, parks and visitor services, sustainable forest management, and fire management. Responsibilities Plan, organise, train and implement programs and operations relating to fire management, including prescribed burning and bushfire preparedness within the Warren region. Liaise with district and Fire Management Services personnel to assist in preparing and planning works programs within agreed timeframes. Selection Criteria Demonstrated operational experience in the management of fire-related activities, including fire suppression procedures, liaison with other firefighting and emergency organisations, planning and implementing prescribed burning programs. Experience and skills in leading and managing teams, preparing and implementing works programs, scheduling work, setting goals, controlling and reviewing progress, including experience in managing volunteers and contractors. Experience using fire management as a landmanagement tool to achieve biodiversity conservation, and park and forest management outcomes. Experience using computer software (including GPS, GIS and software such as ArcView or equivalent) for data management and report writing and applying financial management skills to budget preparation and expenditure control and monitoring.
